Invitation to the 14th International Passive House Conference 2010

28th and 29th May 2010 in Dresden

Climate protection - Energy efficiency shows a way out of the economic crisis
In times of a global economic crisis climate protection is often seen of secondary importance, even though considerable revenues can be generated with environmentally-friendly techniques. This ranges from investments in renewable energies usage to the implementation of efficiency measures, which decrease the demand for fossil resources.

Overcoming the global economic crisis with commitment on a local basis
The Passive House standard can make a considerable contribution to overcoming the crisis. Above all, using this highly efficient standard will strengthen the regional economy. Local investments and generated turnovers will cause a boom independently from the global economic situation but with a sustainable effect on the worldwide climate.

The Passive House - a driving force for the regional economy
The county of Saxony has recognized the role the Passive House can play in strengthening the regional economy and supports the construction of these highly efficient buildings with the so-called 'Innovations- und Praxisverbund Passivhaus' (innovation and implementation network Passive House) for exemplary projects. Moreover, the bank 'Sächsische Aufbaubank -Förderbank' offers a subsidy programme. In the Free State of Saxony it is therefore now possible for every future home-owner to fulfil his/her dream of a Passive House at nearly no additional costs. As a side effect, the regional building trade is strengthened, as the required competence for successful implementation can be found here.

Activities in Central and in Eastern Europe
Activities in Central and in Eastern Europe form another central topic for the upcoming Passive House Conference. The main focus will be on reports from those who have gained experience with the implementation of projects, with team work and with communication in recently established networks, as well as on the regional potential for the trades.
